The patent pending features, such as a predictive control algorithm, thermo-optical heat guard, data logger and parabolic flow pattern are the components of the Parabolic Heat Design, which produces the best performance in electric tankless water heating. Parabolic Heat Design results in the most precise temperature control, faster speed to temperature, and optimized energy usage – providing peace of mind to the engineer, customer and user.

  • Step 1

    Water enters the heater and activates the energy transfer as it passes through the flow meter.

  • Step 2

    The water enters the inlet manifold into one of the 6 parallel heating chambers.

  • Step 3

    In the heating chamber, water flows in a helical fashion  up the outside of the heating rod, heating up as it is exposed to the direct heating element.

  • Step 4

    The water makes a parabolic transition at the top of the heating chamber and shoots down the center of the heating rod into the outlet manifold.

  • Step 5

    In the outlet manifold the water from the 6 parallel heating chambers mixes and then exits the  and exits through the bottom manifold.

  • Step 6

    The control board utilizes the data from inlet and outlet temperature sensors, as well as the flow meter, and actively manages the energy consumption necessary to achieve desired set point temperature at the exit point.

SPEED – PhD enabled units achieve set point temperature without risk of overshoot while not sacrificing time to temperature.

CONTROL – PhD enabled units maintain compliance with ANSI Z358.1 tepid water  requirement even with sudden flow change from 25 gpm to 3.3 gpm, which may be experienced when shutting down a drench shower and running eye wash only.  This eliminates the need to dump water, a common approach with traditional design.

PRECISION – Active power management ensures set point stability by monitoring actual system power requirements thereby eliminating hysteresis.

PERFORMANCE – PhD delivers reduced pressure drop due to advanced flow pattern. This allows for greater application flexibility.
